I am extremely excited about being one of the 90 artisans who will be participating in this weekend (July 26-27) art festival. My objective was to have at least 25 paintings ready for the festival, but was short by 2. If I can tackle the other things on my to-do-list, I'll try and squeeze one more out. It is my first time to try this type of venue, so I had to dish out for the tent, panels, and all the other stuff you need to sort of look professional. My dear sisters will be helping me out in the tent, and have supported me every step of the way. I will take pictures and share update after the show...
I attended an art show that was sponsered by Erin Ward who owns The Rossmore House (Image Crafters) and located in Whitby. While there were not that many people that came by I did have a great time meeting other artist and enjoying Erin's friends and her hospitality. By the end of the day, I did sell three of my pieces.
Rossmore house is a beautiful spa where I happen to go to get my hair cut by Patti. They provide all kinds of spa treatments, which are reasonably priced and it is one of those places where you instantly feel welcome. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be pampered.
Sarah, a friend of mine who lives down the street, asked me to paint a picture for her daughters birthday. (McKenzie) McKenzie is absolutely gorgeous...if you ask me looks like a movie star, and is the spitting image of her Mom. Painting portraits of people can be tricky, but I'm pretty happy with the end result. Sarah loved it, but the real test will be when McKenzie sees it..which won't be until mid October. I'll keep ya posted.
We are so fortunate to have been able to celebrate my Mom and Dad's 65th Anniversary on Aug 18th. (real date - Aug 16th) The day turned out to be one of the best this summer. Not too hot; Not too cold. Mom was even well enough to sit outside for awhile. My Cousin Marion and her family were visiting from England, and this really touched my parents to have them there for this special day. Mom and Dad choose not to jump out of the cake this time, but Dad did manage to sing a few Irish old favorites. It was very touching. We watched a video montage, which I pulled together and shed a few tears, which is kind of par for the course, when it comes to the girls in our family. I also painted a picture of Mom and Dad, which they have hanging in their living room. AnnMarie, did a beautiful photo book, from Shutterfly. It is amazing. We pray that there will be many more anniversary's where we can honor such a loving couple.
Nancy Donaldson, from allpulpedout and I had our first "art show" together on June 9th. My sister Dede also contributed to our success by bringing hand crafted cards, which were a huge hit. Nancy had with her some beautiful jewelry along with some of the nicest encaustic art, I've ever seen. I had my collection of acrylic painting and a few encaustics as well. What a fantastic turn out, and I'm pretty sure everyone that came had a great time. (I hope so anyway). My sisters AnnMarie and Cathy were so helpful in making everyone comfortable and ensuring everyone had enough to eat and drink. I am also thankful to Harry, my partner, for taking orders from all us Fitzy girls and taking care of Elvis and Sheena (our dogs). The biggest surprise for me was when my Dad showed up. He couldn't stay too long, but it was wonderful that he was able to join us for a wee while. If all goes as planned, I will be having another show around mid November and hope that anyone who couldn't make it for this show, will be able to make the next one. THank you to everyone who came! We really appreciate all your support! xox
I get most of my ideas from photographs and therefore am so lucky that I have a family with such a natural talent for taking pictures. I was so pumped to see that my brother has passed on his creative genes to my niece Juliette (Jules). Her pic's are awesome moments of beauty and convey such warmth. I truly hope Jules never stops taking pictures. Here is just a sample of her latest work.
Welcome to my brand new website. I'm pretty excited to finally have a place where I can showcase my paintings and hopefully hear from friends who are just as passionate about art as I am. I would love to hear what you think of my site. And, don't worry, I take whatever you throw at me. Any feedback is all good. thanks for visiting!
